The Republican National Convention nearly erupted into chaos when “Never Trump” supporters thought they were being denied their right to a roll call vote. They pushed to have a roll call vote to unbind delegates, so they could vote for the Republican nominee according to their conscience rather than according to their state's voting results. The Never Trump delegates believed they had enough states signed on to allow for a roll call vote, but were surprised to learn that three states had withdrawn their signatures.
