Jets Score, But Call Timeout Right Before Play

Geno Smith hit Jeremy Kerley on a game-tying 36-yard touchdown pass with five minutes left, but Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg called a timeout before the play, voiding the touchdown.

Later in the drive, the Jets failed on a 4th-and-8 attempt to give Green Bay the ball with 3:30 remaining in the game.

The Packers were then able to run out the rest of the clock.

Packers Reclaim Lead One Play Later

On its first offensive play after the Jets tied the game, Aaron Rodgers found Jordy Nelson for an 80-yard touchdown with two minutes remaining in the third quarter.


Packers Take First Lead, Folk Ties It Back For Jets

Green Bay took its first lead of the game when quarterback Aaron Rodgers hit Randall Cobb for the duo’s second touchdown hookup with five minutes left in the third quarter. On the two-point-conversion, Rodgers found Cobb once again in the end zone.

Jets kicker Nick Folk then hit a 52-yard field goal to tie the game.

Packers Close Gap in Second Quarter

After Chris Ivory extended New York’s lead to 21-3 early in the second quarter, Green Bay has scored two consecutive FG’s – one from 20 yards and one from 55 – to cut New York’s lead to 21-9.

The Packers then scored with 8 seconds left in the half when Aaron Rodgers found Randall Cobb in the end zone.


Decker Scores First TD as Jet

The Jets extended their lead over the Packers when Geno Smith found wide receiver Eric Decker for a 29-yard touchdown for Decker’s first touchdown with the Jets.

After receiving the ball to start the game, New York quarterback Geno Smith capped off the Jets first drive when he rolled out to run it in from 1-yard out to give the Jets an early lead.

Green Bay then failed to generate any offense on its opening drive.


Preview

The Jets are coming off of a big victory over the Oakland Raiders while the Packers are trying to recover from a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks. But in Green Bay’s home opener, the Jets will have their hands full, facing a team that is more athletic than them and in need of a win.

Green Bay running back Eddie Lacy, who sustained a concussion in the season-opening loss at Seattle, has been cleared to play, but will wear a new helmet.
