Markkanen (shoulder) will not play for Finland during the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July, Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports reports. Markkanen is still rehabbing a right shoulder injury which forced him out of Utah's last nine games. The 27-year-old will not rush his recovery to play in the qualifier, as he is expected to return to on-court activities in August. Markkanen played in 55 games for the Jazz last season, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 48.0 percent from the field.

Latest Jazz News
Lauri Markkanen : Out for FIBA Qualifying Tournament
Markkanen (shoulder) will not play for Finland during the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July, Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports reports. Markkanen is still rehabbing a right shoulder injury which forced him out of Utah's last nine games. The 27-year-old will not rush his recovery to play in the qualifier, as he is expected to return to on-court activities in August. Markkanen played in 55 games for the Jazz last season, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 48.0 percent from the field.
Walker Kessler : Expected to play in Summer League
The Jazz plan to have Kessler (nose) participate in the 2024 NBA Summer League, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. After a nice rookie season in 2022-23 in which Kessler started his final 34 appearances, he was selected in the early-to-mid rounds of most fantasy leagues this season. Managers who did so were disappointed. The center's points (8.1) and rebounds (7.5) per game decreased, as did his field-goal percentage (65.4). He also started just 22 games and crossed the 30-minute threshold only eight times. While the Jazz also had interest in developing other bigs like John Collins and Taylor Hendricks, plus giving minutes to Kelly Olynyk before trading him to Toronto, Kessler's role gave the impression that he wasn't impressing coach Will Hardy. The organization seems to believe it would be best for Kessler to get more development minutes this summer.
Omer Yurtseven : Productive in season finale Sunday
Yurtseven supplied 11 points (5-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 18 rebounds and two assists over 30 minutes during Sunday's 123-116 loss to the Warriors. Yurtseven spent most of the season as the third-string center behind John Collins (back) and Walker Kessler (nose), but since both were ruled out for the season finale, Yurtseven stepped into a starting role and looked quite good, posting a double-double and making his presence felt on the glass. Yurtseven started Utah's final six games of the campaign, scoring in double digits four times and posting two double-doubles in that span.
Keyonte George : Finishes season on high note
George provided 21 points (8-11 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound and four assists over 20 minutes during Sunday's 123-116 loss to Golden State. George finished the campaign on a strong note after registering 20 or more points in three of his last five appearances. Despite sharing backcourt duties with Jordan Clarkson (back) and Collin Sexton (illness), George took over the starting point guard role on Feb. 12 after the deadline and thrived, emerging as a viable long-term piece in Utah's rebuilding process. He finishes the season with averages of 13.0 points, 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Taylor Hendricks : Scores 16 points in season finale
Hendricks racked up 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals across 41 minutes during Sunday's 123-116 loss to the Warriors. Hendricks finished just two points shy of tying his career-high mark in the final game of the regular season, and while the rookie benefited from an uptick in minutes over the final weeks of the campaign, he looked ready to handle a more prominent role in 2024-25.
Collin Sexton : Out due to illness
Sexton (illness) will not play in Sunday's regular-season finale versus Golden State. Sexton's 2023-24 campaign comes to an end after 78 appearances, which yielded 18.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Sexton's scoring volume climbed towards his 2020-21 standard, which was admittedly lofty at 24.3 points per game, but his facilitation this year jumps off the page as well, boasting a career-best 2.33 AST/TO ratio alongside a career-high 4.9 assists per game.
John Collins : Sitting regular season finale
Collins (back) is out for Sunday's game against the Warriors. Collins won't be available for the final game of the regular season, which makes sense since the Jazz don't have anything to play for Sunday. The veteran forward enjoyed a solid campaign in a starting role in 2023-24, averaging 15.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 28.0 minutes per game across 68 appearances (66 starts).
Jordan Clarkson : Won’t play Sunday
Clarkson (back) is out for Sunday's game against the Warriors. The Jazz won't risk Clarkson in the season finale since the team has nothing to play for. The veteran guard showed his scoring prowess whether playing as a starter or coming off the bench, as he started in only 19 of his 55 appearances. He ends the campaign with averages of 17.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from deep.
