Like Destiny 2, Destiny 1 has an exclusivity deal with PlayStation and Sony which gave PS4 and PS3 players exclusive content before it released on the Xbox One or Xbox 360. While most of the content did end up coming over to Microsoft’s platforms, there’s still a couple of weapons and armor, even strikes, that have not made their way over to the Xbox.
Bungie announced today that the content will be migrating from Sony’s platforms to Microsoft’s, starting in October of this year. That may be good news to some, but keep in mind that this is after Destiny 2 releases and many of the players will likely have moved to the sequel.
The weapons, armor, and playable activities that have been available only on PlayStation will transfer to the Xbox in October, 2017. Exclusive content from The Taken King will migrate to all four launch platforms, including legacy consoles – including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Exclusive content from Rise of Iron will only migrate to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll follow up with a more exact date before it arrives.
Better late than never, right? Destiny 2 will feature PS4-exclusive features at launch such as a PvP map, an Exotic sniper rifle and a ship called the City Apex. There’s no telling when these items will make their way to the Xbox or PC but we hope it doesn’t take as long as the Taken King and Rise of Iron items did.
In other Destiny news, we have news of an updated release date.
The release date of Destiny 2 for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has been moved up to September 6, with the PC version releasing on October 24, exclusively through Battle.net.
