Microsoft and its Xbox team are finally treating its dedicated fanbase to some gameplay footage for their upcoming next-generation console, the Xbox Series X.
Xbox announced in their latest 20/20 update that the May 7th Inside Xbox event showcase would feature “a first look at next-gen gameplay, trailers and sneak peeks from a wide variety of publishing partners and independent developers across the globe and industry.”
This means that fans are unlikely to see footage or gameplay from some of the upcoming games that are being published by Microsoft, such as Halo Infinite or Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, but publishers such as EA, Ubisoft and Activision made their presence felt.
If you want to watch the full video of the gameplay reveal, you can watch the 28-minute video above. If you don’t have that much time, we’ve got the full list of games that were shown off at the May 7th Inside Xbox show:
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed series was formally announced by Ubisoft on April 29 with a cover art design livestream, and was followed up a day later with a cinematic trailer. The corresponding info pages on Ubisoft’s website hinted at various activities and game mechanics, such as settlement building, raiding, drinking games, and even Viking-style rap battles.
Valhalla was the only title confirmed to be shown off at Inside Xbox before the show started.
The short gameplay trailer showed footage of one of the game’s new Viking raids, as well as the snowy and grassy environments and some sick ax-throwing.
DIRT 5
DIRT is back with the fifth installment in the wild racing series from Codemasters. DIRT 5 will take players to tracks around the world like New York, Brazil, and China.
Career mode is back, starring noted voice actors Nolan North and Troy Baker, as well as four-player co-op split screen.
Scorn
A nightmarish first-person horror game set in a gross hellscape. The game is designed to be unwillingly explored, as you traverse through these areas that come ripped out of a bad dream.
According to Steam, “Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.”
The Medium
A psychological horror game in which you play as a medium who can traverse between two worlds: the real one and the spirit world. With your abilities, you must discover the truth behind a murder and a tragedy.
One of the biggest features touted by the developers is its soundtrack by Bloober Team’s Arkadiusz Reikowski and legendary composer Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame.
Chorus
A next-generation space combat shooter from Deep Silver. Players will “take control of Nara, an ace pilot with a haunted past and Forsaken, her sentient starfighter.”
The developers have described the story as a “mature and dark tale of redemption.”
