DWTS Season 30 Episode 3 Spoilers & Live Recap: Who Was Eliminated & Made It Through?

DWTS season 30 couples

ABC DWTS season 30 couples

UPDATE: The bottom two came down to Kenya Moore and Brandon Armstrong, and Christine Chiu and Pasha Pashkov. The judges voted to keep Kenya and Brandon (both Carrie Ann and Bruno voted that way, so Len did not have to be the tiebreaker).

That means “Bling Empire” star Christine Chiu and her partner Pasha Pashkov were eliminated.

The original post continues below.

It’s Britney night in the “Dancing With the Stars” ballroom and one pair’s journey is about to come to an end on Monday, October 4 on ABC. Follow along with our live recap and elimination spoilers below but be warned of spoilers

All times Eastern.

Amanda Kloots & Alan Bersten

These two have a cha cha to “Circus,” which they performed with a lot of panache. It could’ve maybe been a little less smiley for a dance that was supposed to be sexy, but overall, it was very good. “I was intrigued to find out how you would cope with Latin American … I must say you coped very well … with you, it’s always clean, it’s clear, but it doesn’t excite me,” said judge Len Goodman. They received three 8s for a 24 out of 30.

Iman Shumpert & Daniella Karagach

They are dancing the tango this week to “Piece of Me.” This is one of those dances where the man gets to show off the female dancer a lot and Iman does a great job at that. But he also did well during the frame parts. He held a very tight frame and glided well for such a large man. “That was a nice, solid piece of tango. I really appreciate the fact that you really concentrate on getting the right moves,” said judge Bruno Tonioli. They received two 6s and a 7 from Carrie Ann for a 19 out of 30.

Christine Chiu & Pasha Pashkov

This pair performs a paso doble to “Stronger.” It is a very dramatic routine and Christine does well with the stiff lines, but will it be enough? She definitely came into the competition with the smallest outside fanbase, so she’ll have to work to stay (she was in the bottom two last week despite not being the second-lowest dancer). The judges praise her, with Carrie Ann Inaba telling her, “Your shaping is beautiful … you have everything it takes to win this competition.” They received straight 7s for a 21 out of 30.

JoJo Siwa & Jenna Johnson

The call for this pair this week is an Argentine tango to “Baby One More Time.” This is definitely their sexiest dance yet and they really do a nice job. They are sharp and JoJo’s footwork is a lot more purposeful this week than last week. They even pull off several tricky lifts. Wow. The judges are full of praise, giving them all 8s for a 24 out of 30.

Kenya Moore & Brandon Armstrong

They pull a tango to “Womanizer” and it’s… pretty good. Kenya does alright, but she’s a little loose for a tango, it feels like. Like she could be stronger and more assertive in her frame and her footwork. Len said she captured “the flavor” of the tango and that she moved well around the floor. The judges give them straight 7s for a 21 out of 30.

Brian Austin Green & Sharna Burgess

This is another tango, this one to “Till The World Ends.” It is very dramatic, both in terms of costume and background scenery. Fortunately for them, there is a lot more dance content this week rather than a lot of posing like the judges criticized them for on their rumba last week. Last week, they had limited rehearsal time because Brian was appearing on “The Conners” live season four premiere; this week, it appears they had a lot more time to rehearse. This is pretty solid. The judges agree, Carrie Ann says they “finally arrived in the ballroom.” They earn two 6s and a 7 from Carrie Ann for a 19 out of 30.

Melora Hardin & Artem Chigvintsev

They have a cha cha to “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” Melora has really been struggling with how hard ballroom dancing is and how she feels that she is so bad at it. Honestly, she’s not bad. This is a very solid routine and the judges agree. Len calls it a “great performance” and they end up with two 8s and a 7 from Len for a 23 out of 30.

Melanic C. & Gleb Savchenko

They are dancing a tango to “Toxic,” which is arguably the best performance song from Britney’s setlist. They really lucked out. Also, the routine is great. Melanie’s legs are so strong and straight, really good job. Carrie Ann thought it was chock full of content, while Len said it was a little all over the place — sometimes great, sometimes not. They earn two 7s and an 8 from Bruno for a 22 out of 30.

Jimmie Allen & Emma Slater

They get a salsa to “Outrageous,” and once again, the show cannot figure out how to properly light the neon costumes. This is hard to watch just for that, but as a dance, this is pretty good. It feels like there’s not a ton of salsa content, though. “It kind of looked like you were shrinking in,” said Carrie Ann, who also criticized two of the lifts. “I liked the nice easy action of it,” said Len. Huh. That’s unusual for him. They receive two 6s and an 8 (?!) from Bruno for a 20 out of 30.

Olivia Jade & Val Chmerkovskiy

Yet another tango, this one to “Hold It Against Me.” This might be her best dance yet. This is very good — sharp, good frame, tight footwork. “That was a well-done tango … full of staccato, full of attack. This is what I want to see,” said Len. “Best dance of the night, as far as I’m concerned,” said Carrie Ann. They receive three 8s for a 24 out of 30.

Cody Rigsby & Cheryl Burke

This week, Cody and Cheryl are performing a jazz dance because that’s a style where you don’t have to touch. We imagine the show is saving that style for the couples just for this very situation. They are performing to “Gimme More” in their living rooms — and honestly, considering how hard this is to coordinate, they do a great job. “Is a very, very good effort,” said Bruno. “Bravo to both of you to dancing with COVID because COVID is no joke,” said Carrie Ann. But she said that it did not compare to the rest of the field. “I thought for the circumstances, you did an incredible job,” said Len. They receive straight 6s for 18 out of 30.

Suni Lee & Sasha Farber

They get a foxtrot to “I’m A Slave 4 U,” which is an interesting song for a foxtrot. It’s both weirdly slow and weirdly fast. Suni is definitely getting better every week but it still felt a little off. “I sense a little bit of discomfort doing some of the more sensual moves,” said Carrie Ann. The judges give them straight 7s for a 21 out of 30.

Matt James & Lindsay Arnold

Yet another tango. This one is performed to “Scream & Shout,” and it’s not bad. Matt is trying really, really hard but he suffers from the same issue as Iman — very long limbs. His frame is pretty good, but his footwork is a little sloppy. Len says there was a footwork issue, but there was “plenty of passion and plenty of attack.” They receive two 7s and a 6 from Len for a 20 out of 30.

The Miz & Witney Carson

The final dance of the night is the salsa to “Oops! I Did It Again.” … Honestly, this was so good that I forgot to type anything. Not only did they do some incredibly impressive lifts, but he also did a great salsa. He can dance! “Mike, you’re so much fun to watch … the lifts were amazing, some things we’ve never seen before,” said Carrie Ann. “Unlike some of our stars, you’ve got absolutely no dance background and to come out and perform to that level? I thought it was fantastic,” said Len. They received two 7s and an 8 from Bruno for a 22 out of 30.

“Dancing With the Stars” season 30 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on ABC.
