Three people were shot August 14 in the parking lot at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, according to CBS News.

Fox 32 reported through a source that the victim’s injuries were not life threatening, and that the incident appeared to be a “drive-by shooting” rather than an active shooter situation. The victims’ conditions are not clear. The station reported that the shooting occurred near the front entrance gates of the popular theme park about an hour north of Chicago.
WGN-TV also reported that three people were shot.
According to WGN, authorities have taken no one into custody and they do not yet know a motive for the crime.
Videos showed panic at the scene.

Rachel Kendziora, a spokeswoman for Six Flags Great America, told the Daily Herald in an email that “three people were struck by shots fired from a vehicle, which then fled.”
The newspaper reported that two of the wounded were hospitalized and one refused treatment.
“The park closed early, with guests and team members departing under direction of the Gurnee Police Department,” Kendziora wrote in the email to the Daily Herald.
Video from the scene circulated on social media. One site wrote of reports that there was an “active shooter at Six Flags as Dozen of cop cars and multiple ambulances” were requested for “multiple victims.”
“Shooting at six flags. My wheelchair flipped and broke so my brother had to run out w me on his back. It was wild. We hid in separate bathrooms bc we got separated in 3 diff groups,” this video’s caption read.
One witness told WGN that someone shouted, “There is an active shooter, get down, get down. We didn’t know what was going on, so we get down.”
Authorities told WGN that law enforcement is searching the park.

“Glad to know that everyone is safe at the Six Flags shooting. This has to stop man,” wrote another Twitter user.
