Timed with the one-year anniversary of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, a new gun-control ad is seizing the moment to strike fear in the hearts of parents.
The one-minute piece, published on YouTube (watch it above), pictures elementary school students preparing to observe a moment of silence as the classroom clock ominously ticks down and a faceless gunman enters the school with a military-style duffel bag.
The voiceover:
On December 14, we’ll have a moment of silence for Newtown, but with 26 more school shootings since that day, ask yourself, is silence what America needs right now?
The ad — a joint effort of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and New York Mayor Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns — rolls out as part of the No More Silence campaign.
