Police believed a suspicious package at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, may be an explosive device. The situation has since been resolved.

The suspicious package, according to the police, “gave a positive indication for explosives.” This happened after a routine inspection of packages indicated that it tested positive for explosives.
2. It was Discovered in the Base’s Post Office
At around 10 a.m., a package reported to be about the size of a “box of blank checks” was deemed suspicious after a routine check tested positive for explosive. This occurred in the base’s post office and the building has since been cordoned off.

The Montgomery Explosives Ordinance Disposal arrived on the scene in order to respond to the package.
4. Buildings Have Been Instructed to Shelter in Place or Evacuate
The post office as been cordoned off and the Maxwell Boulevard Gate has been closed until further notice. People in buildings nearby have either been evacuated or have been instructed to shelter in place.
