We have all been made aware that beloved actor James Gandolfini has passed away. Gandolfini was on a father-son slash business trip with his son Michael when the tragedy occurred. Here are five facts about the wonderful son that Gandolfini left behind.
1. His Father Was His Best Friend

We’ve never seen so many loving photos of a father and son. Always holding hands, always smiling … it really puts things in perspective. What a special bond these two shared.

Michael found his father collapsed in their hotel room late last night (Wednesday) and immediately called for help. The Huffington Post reports that:
The manager of the hotel in Rome where Gandolfini and his son were staying told the “Today” show the young boy found his father collapsed in the bathroom around 10 p.m. local time Wednesday.
When James Gandolfini’s first wife, Marcy Wudarski, heard the horrible news, she immediately flew to Italy to be at her son’s side who was with his father on the fateful trip.
Michael just graduated the eighth grade. The Italy trip was an opportunity for James and Michael to share some quality time. The trip was said to be in celebration of Michael’s eighth grade graduation as well as to attend Taormina Film Festival in Sicily. What a horrible turn of events for the father-son get-away.
3. Halloween Seemed to be Michael and James’ “Thing”

4. Michael is a Serious Sports Fan

Michael is just a normal kid who loves sports. He’s seen in a host of pictures at basketball games with his dad and his facebook has several photos dedicated to hockey.
5. James’ Son is Not the Only Child Left Behind

It’s sad to say that James Gandolfini also has an 8-month old daughter named Liliana by his wife Deborah Lin. It’s sad and unfortunate that this little girl won’t be able to grow up with a father.

Thankfully, she will always be able to watch his movies and shows to get an idea of who her father was as well as how talented he was.
