As the tragic news of Robin Williams’ death begins to sink in, many fans of the star are wondering about the funeral arrangements and memorials that will be held to remember the funniest man that ever was. As more and more details get released, we will fill in any information we receive. For now, here’s what we know about any arrangements …
UPDATE: According to First Post, the family is planning a very private funeral in the Bay Area of San Francisco for only close friends and family.
Susan Schneider, the third wife of the actor – who committed suicide on Monday – is reportedly planning a “very private” funeral in the Bay Area of San Francisco and family members, including the actor’s 31-year-old son Zak, have begun flying into town ahead of the service, reports femalefirst.co.uk … In addition to the private service, the source says a comedy benefit night will be held for the public in honour of the Mrs. Doubtfire actor. The tribute will take place at the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley in the next few weeks.
In addition, the 2014 Emmy Awards will pay an extra tribute to Williams at the event later this month.

1. Details Of the Funeral Will Be Released Once the Family Is Fully Notified
According to Christian Today, details of the funeral, any tributes, and memorial service details will be released to the public as soon as the family and close friends are aware of the arrangements. Many are also wondering about the Emmy Awards coming up … if they’re pay a special tribute to Williams at the show, which takes place later this month. While Williams is sure to be included in their “In Memoriam” tribute, fans are hoping there will be a tribute solely for Williams as well.
2. It’s Unknown If There Will Be a Service Open to the Public
Robin Williams was and is a global icon. Fans are hoping that there will be a public memorial of some kind so that they can say goodbye to the man who made us all laugh and cry over the years. While the funeral may remain private given the circumstances of Williams’ death, fans are hoping they’ll be able to attend. When James Gandolfini passed away, the funeral was open to the public, having a section roped off for family and close friends. This was a wonderful gift to Gandolfini’s many fans.
3. The Horrible Westboro Baptist Church Is Planning to Picket Williams’ Funeral
The Westboro Baptist Church always jumps on the deaths of celebrities with threats to picket their funerals. They even posted a tweet with the hashtag #MustPicketFuneral. Their actions are truly disrespectful. Have a look at the disgusting tweet they posted below:
“@Reuters: Robin Williams found dead in an apparent suicide.”

Heavy.com’s Paul Farrell has written:
The “church,” which has made its name in protesting the funerals of victims of tragedies — somehow relating the deaths to acceptance of homosexuality in society — has proven time and again that no tragedy is safe from the group’s vile opinions.
The Westboro Baptist Church didn’t stop at just one tweet … They posted horrifying tweet after tweet and even created a distasteful Vine about Williams.
4. The Funeral Will Undoubtedly Be Filled With Hollywood Elite

5. Memorials Have Popped Up Across the Country
While waiting for the news on Williams’ funeral, fans have already begun to pay homage to the star with memorials. The Hollywood Reporter writes:
The bench that helped Robin Williams earn an Oscar is now the site of an impromptu memorial for the late actor, thanks to a few fans in Boston.
As Williams’ fans gathered to pay tribute to the star, many brought things to remember the star:
They brought flowers and chalk, and found two fans already sitting on the bench. The four of them teamed up to write lines from Good Will Hunting on the ground, including “Sorry guys, I went to see about a girl” and “Your move, chief.” The plan is to honor Williams’ body of work, not just Good Will Hunting. Hook has already gotten some love (Bangarang!).
In addition, a memorial has also been started on the steps of the San Fran house made famous in Mrs. Doubtfire. Flowers and a small Oscar statue have been placed on Williams’ walk of fame star, mementos have been left in front of Williams’ home and items for support have even been left outside the home of Rebecca Erwin Spencer, the assistant who discovered Williams’ body.
