New York Comic-Con 2014: Top 10 Movie & TV Panels You Need to Attend

We’ve told you about all the cool video game panels and we’ve clued you into the coolest comic book panels you need to attend during NYCC 2014.

But the biggest attractions every year (including this year) are the panels that discuss the future of TV shows and movie franchises. This year’s TV show lineup is full of comic book characters and familiar animated characters, plus there are some major movies dropping real soon.

These are the top 10 TV and movie panels you’ll need to hit up!


1. AMC’s The Walking Dead – Saturday, October 11 • 3:30pm – 4:30pm in Main Stage 1-D

The Walking Dead is going to rule Sunday evenings once again. The 5th Season is going to make its grand premier on Sunday, October 12 and we know half the world will be tuning in. Before that big day comes, make sure you hit up the show’s panel presentation. Andrew Lincoln and the majority of the cast will be there, plus lucky fans will get to check out a sneak peak of the upcoming season.


2. 60 Years of Godzilla – Thursday, October 9 • 7:15pm – 8:00pm in Room 1A05

Wow! We didn’t even realize that six whole decades have passed since the introduction of Japan’s most badass monster, Godzilla (GOJIRA!). This celebratory panel will show some love to the big creature, speak about the 2014 film reboot and hopefully offer up some hints at what’s to come. Japan’s most recognizable Mon-Star is making a comeback!


3. Marvel’s Daredevil, Exclusively on Netflix – Saturday, October 11 • 5:15pm – 6:15pm in Main Stage 1-D

One of the most exciting new superhero shows on the horizon is the Netflix exclusive, Daredevil. Marvel’s blind and nimble night stalker is coming to the small screen via the acting talents of Steve DeKnight and we can’t wait to see him in action. Marvel’s Head of TV Jeph Loeb will be on hand to give fans some extra info on Dardevil’s new streaming web series. In 2015, Daredevil will make his grand return.


4. Walt Disney Studios Presents an Exclusive Look at TOMORROWLAND and Walt Disney Animation Studios Presents an Exclusive Look at BIG HERO 6 – Thursday, October 9 • 1:00pm – 2:30pm in Main Stage 1-D

Disney is ready to follow up the massive success of Frozen by debuting two new animated films – Big Hero 6 and Tomorrowland. Walt Disney Animation Studios will take the time to speak on the ongoing development of these films during these two panels. The directors and producers of both films will speak on the future of Disney’s animated features.


5. Once Upon a Time Has Frozen Over! – Friday, October 10 • 4:30pm – 5:30pm in Empire Stage 1-E

Speaking of Disney and Frozen, Once Upon a Time will switch up this season’s formula by portraying real-life visions of the film’s characters. Elsa, the Ice Queen of Arendelle, will make her TV show debut in the world of Storybrooke. The creators of the show will be on hand to give its hardcore fans a sneak peek into the upcoming season. This one’s special screening event will be worth the price of NYCC 2014 admission by itself.

6. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Friday, October 10 • 5:45pm – 6:45pm in Empire Stage 1-E

Jeph Loeb is gonna be giving Marvel Comics fans another exclusive look at their TV show lineup. The most intriguing part of this panel is the grand showing of an entire new episode for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! If you’re dying to see this new episode before it’s available for the world to see on ABC, make sure you grab a seat for this panel.


7. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis – Friday, October 10 • 7:15pm – 8:15pm in Main Stage 1-D


Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC Comics have been on quite the role lately with their line of animated superhero flicks. Their next home release, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, looks pretty damn intense and worthy of Aquaman’s awesomeness. This panel will give fans a special look into this nee animated feature with full scene showings and discussions with the brains behind it all. Some very special gusts might show up and make you nerd out pretty hard, we’re hearing…


8. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – An Unofficial Look! – Saturday, October 11 • 9:00pm – 9:45pm in Room 1A21

The hardcore Lord of the Rings fanbase that writes for TheOneRing.net will be present during this special panel for the next Hobbit film, The Battle of the Five Armies. Only the most knowledgeable and diehard fans of this massive fantasy franchise should hit up this expectedly lively panel. Who knows, there might even be some official sneak peek’s from the movie studio themselves! If you wished you lived in Middle-Earth, then this is probably the panel for you.


9. Constantine Pilot Screening and Q&A – Saturday, October 11 • 7:00pm – 8:00pm in Empire Stage 1-E

This year’s TV show lineup is being ruled by superheroes in capes, cop uniforms and other types of clothing doo-dad’s. As for Constantine, he’s more comfortable in a light jacket while he’s puffing on a cig. This year, he’ll be ridding the world of the paranormal threats that harm it once he debuts on his new, self-titled show. Come see the show’s star Matt Ryan as he chops it up with fans and the creators behind this new series. Stay for the pilot screening and Q&A session, folks!


10. The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? – Thursday, October 9 • 1:15pm – 2:00pm in Room 1A14

Anyone see that trailer for the documentary behind Tim Burton/Nicholas Cage’s failed Superman project? Check out the link below to see it if you haven’t already. This documentary is near completion, so come take a seat and check out how far along the movie is coming. Director/Producer Jon Schnepp will take this panel’s fans for a wild ride as he discusses his passion project and the stories revolving around this deceased Superman movie.
