Thomas Rhett is an American country music star. He has released two records in the past five years It Goes Like This and Tangled Up. Both records have scorched the country charts producing ten singles on the Hot Country Charts with six of those going to number one.

Rhett has also written numerous singles for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, and Florida Georgia Line. Rhett married his high school sweetheart and both will be welcoming a child in the coming months.

1. Thomas Rhett is the son of Country Music Singer Rhett Akins

Thomas Rhett is the son of country music singer and songwriter Rhett Akins. Rhett Akins has released six records with his last one 2008’s Down South.

Akins has charted fourteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs including the number one “Don’t Get Me Started” in 1996.

Akins is also one-third of the songwriting team The Peach Pickers with Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip.


2. Rhett has Accomplished a lot Since Coming on the Scene in 2010


Thomas Rhett has released two studio albums through Valory Music. 2013’s It Goes Like This and 2015’s Tangled Up have combined for ten singles with six reaching number one

Rhett also has written singles for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, and Florida Georgia Line.

At one point in September of 2013 the Country Airplay Chart has five songs in the top 10 that Thomas Rhett had written or co-written.


3. He has Known His Wife Since the First Grade

Thomas Rhett married Lauren Gregory in 2012, but has known her since first grade in Valdosta, GA.

Rhett proposed to Gregory at her favorite restaurant in Nashville. He wrote “Marry Me?” in silver Sharpie marker on a wine bottle. His go to guy during the planning stages was Luke Bryan whom he called three-four times.

The couple recently announced that they are expecting a child, and have recently started the paperwork for adopting a child from Africa.


4. He Performed on CMT’s Crossroads with Nick Jonas


CMT Crossroads is a show that pits a country music star with a rock n roll star to cover both of their songs. In 2016, Rhett was paired with Nick Jonas and special guests Danielle Bradbery and John Oates.

The episode showcased Rhett’s number one hits “Die a Happy Man,” “Crash and Burn,” and “Make Me Wanna.” They also sang Nick Jonas’ “Chains,” “Jealous,” and “Chainsaw.”


5. Rhett had a Song Covered by Alvin and the Chipmunks


Rhett’s song “South Side” showed up on an Alvin and The Chipmunks movie soundtrack. The song was from his hit album Tangled Up.

He took to social media to exclaim “Can’t believe I have a song in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie!”
