Tom Sandoval is opening up about his perspective during his affair and speculated that he was suffering from really low self-esteem at the time.
The “Vanderpump Rules” star discussed his mindset during his months-long affair with co-star Raquel Leviss in a October 19 episode of his podcast, “Everybody Loves Tom.” His guest, Nikki Glaser, asked him if he ever thought that he’d get caught during his affair, but he replied, “I was way too emotionally wrapped up into it to be thinking logically.”
After Glaser compared his situation to being on a “drug” and being an “addict” to the feeling he got from his affair, Sandoval agreed and shared, “It’s all I thought about. Literally all I thought about. It’s one of those things where it was out of control. And it’s something I never thought I would ever get wrapped up in. I was like, yeah right. And here I am in this so wrapped up in it and unable to pull myself away from it.”
“It had a lot to do with being insecure with myself too,” he continued. “I thought that, how could I ever get a girl like this? This young girl? Beautiful girl. I had such low self-esteem.” He added that he thought if he let Leviss get away, he might never be in that position again.

Tom Sandoval Said He’s Worked on His Self-Esteem Issues in the Past Few Months
Glaser asked Sandoval if he’s worked on himself and his self-esteem in the months since his affair with Leviss became public and he and Ariana Madix broke up. “Yeah,” he replied. “No I have for sure.”
He shared that he didn’t realize at the time of his affair that he had low self-esteem and that realization came after the fact. “I was too wrapped up in the moment to think about that,” he shared on his podcast. “I was so absent from my friends.” He added that he felt like he was addicted to love in the moment.

Sandoval and Madix split in early March 2023 after a nine-year relationship once Madix learned of Sandoval’s affair with Leviss. The news shocked the Bravo world and became known as Scandoval as the “Vanderpump Rules” world was propelled into nationwide news.
Since then, Madix and Sandoval have both pursued other opportunities, with Madix guest starring on “Love Island USA,” racking in sponsorship opportunities, and now appearing on “Dancing With the Stars.” Madix is also set to publish her book, “Single AF Cocktails,” in December 2023. Part cocktail book, part memoir, Madix shared that each cocktail recipe will also “tell part of the story of what happened, in my own words.”
As for Sandoval, he’s currently appearing in season 2 of Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” A recent episode showed the directing staff of the exercise asking him to take responsibility for his actions. The VPR OG also launched his new podcast, “Everybody Loves Tom,” in September 2023.
