A public memorial has been planned following the unexpected death of Hallmark star Priscilla Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. The only child of celebrated rock-n-roll singer Elvis Presley was rushed to the hospital on Thursday, January 12, where she died at age 54.

Lisa Marie’s Memorial Will Be Held at Graceland & Can Be Viewed Online

According to Graceland’s website, the memorial for Lisa Marie Presley will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, January 22 on the front lawn of the Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. Fans are invited to attend the ceremony, and it can be viewed online via Graceland’s Livestream page, the website said.

The family requested that in lieu of sending flowers, donations be made to The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation.

Graceland was a childhood home for Lisa Marie Presley, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee to mother, Priscilla Beaulieu Presley and father, Elvis Presley on February 1, 1968. The family lived together at Graceland until her parents divorced in 1973, and young Lisa Marie moved with her mother to Los Angeles.

Elvis Presley died at Graceland on August 16, 1977, and is buried in the estate’s Meditation Garden along with Lisa Marie Presley’s paternal grandparents and her son, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in July of 2020 at age 27.

Lisa Marie Presley inherited Graceland following her father’s death, and now the estate “will go to Lisa Marie’s daughters Riley [Keough], Finley and Harper [Lockwood],” a Graceland representative told The NY Post.

Lisa Marie Presley’s Family Signed a ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ Order After Her First Cardiac Arrest

On the morning of January 12, EMT responders arrived at Lisa Marie Presley’s home in response to a possible cardiac arrest, People reported. According to TMZ, her housekeeper found the singer-songwriter unresponsive, and Lisa Marie Presley’s ex-husband, Danny Keough, performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Lisa Marie Presley was placed on life support at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center and due to her bleak condition, her family signed a Do Not Resuscitate Order, ET News reported. Presley later died after suffering a second cardiac arrest.

In a statement released shortly after her Lisa Marie Presley was transported to the hospital, Priscilla Presley asked fans to keep her daughter “and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time.”

After her Lisa Marie Presley’s death, Priscilla Presley thanked everyone who had prayed for her daughter, People reported.

In a statement, she said: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Priscilla Presley has starred in two Hallmark movies: “Wedding at Graceland” with Kellie Pickler and Wes Brown, and “Christmas at Graceland: Home for the Holidays” with Kaitlin Doubleday, Adrian Grenier, and Chase Bryant, both in 2019.

Priscilla Presley said Elvis would have loved “Wedding at Graceland,” Good Housekeeping reported at the time.

Lisa Marie Presley’s Cause of Death Is Not Known

Lisa Marie Presley’s official cause of death has not been determined, CNN reported. An initial autopsy deferred the cause of death pending additional tests, the Los Angeles County Coroner told the outlet.

Sarah Ardalani, spokesperson with the LA County Dept. of Medical Examiner-Coroner, told CNN in a statement: “Presley was examined on Jan. 14 and the cause of death was deferred. Deferred means that after an autopsy, a cause of death has not been determined and the medical examiner is requesting more investigation into the death, including additional studies. Once the tests/studies come back, the doctor evaluates the case again and makes the cause of death determination.”

Dr. Sanjay Gupta told CNN a deferment is requested when the cause of death is not due to an obvious issue such as a stroke, blood clots, or an infection.

Lisa Marie Presley spoke openly about her longtime battles with addiction, People reported, including a struggle with opioid addiction following the 2008 births of twin daughters Harper and Finley.

Presley’s daughter Riley Keough’s representative told Page Six that she, her half-siblings Harper and Finley, and grandmother Priscilla, are “grateful for the support, well-wishes and outpouring of love honoring” her mother.

Priscilla Presley’s son Navarone Garibaldi by ex Marco Garibaldi, posted a tribute to his half-sister on Instagram.

“Big sister… i hope you are now at peace and happy with your Dad and your son by your side,” Garibaldi wrote. “I know the past couple years weren’t easy for you, and I wish things had been different between us. regardless, you are my sister and I’m sending love and prayers for your journey home.”
