Liam Payne’s Ex-Fiancée Filed Cease & Desist 1 Week Before Singer’s Death

Liam, one of the founding members of the boyband, One Direction, died after taking a fall from the third floor of a hotel room in Buenos Aires, TMZ reported. He was 31.

Payne’s body was found on the deck outside the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, according to TMZ. It’s unclear if his death was an accident or a suicide.

Prior to his death, the singer’s ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, issued a cease and desist letter to the “What Makes You Beautiful” singer,” the Daily Mail reported.

Henry’s lawyers shared a statement with the outlet: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”

Henry, 23, accused Payne of not leaving her alone in a TikTok video posted on Oct. 6.

“Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone. Not only from his phone, it’s always form different phone numbers too, so I never know where it’s gonna come from,” she said.

“He’ll create new iCloud accounts to message me. It’s always a new damn iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I’m like, ‘Here we [expletive] go again.”

Henry said he also tried contacting her mother, Azteca Henry. “He’ll blow up my mom’s phone. Is this normal behavior to you?”

Payne and Henry announced they ended their engagement in May 2022. Payne was in a relationship with Kate Cassidy at the time of his death.

Henry and Payne started dating in 2019 and first announced their engagement in August 2020. While the former couple split in 2021, they got back together later that year. A month after they called off their engagement in April 2022, a source told E! News, “Maya was blindsided by the split. He abruptly ended it with her.

“She is very upset. They have definitely had their fair share of ups and downs in their relationship.”

During their brief split in 2021, Payne said that he has “not been very good at relationships” while appearing on the “Diary of CEO with Stephen Barlett” podcast. “I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people.”

“And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships, I feel at this point. I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else. And I feel like that’s where I got to in my last relationship. I just wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore, that I didn’t appreciate and I didn’t like being.”

Liam has a son, Bear, 7 from a previous relationship with Cheryl Cole, whom he dated between 2016 and 2018. While they kept Bear out of the spotlight, the “Teardrops” singer posted a rare photo of his son on March 6.

He captioned the post, “I want to be on a billboard one day daddy 🐻 ❤️.”

Payne said on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, “Obviously, we protected his identity to start off with, and that’s not being pretentious or anything other than the fact that I want to give him a chance to be Bear first. I made my choice to be where I was at 14/15, so I figure he can make his own choice then, too.”

Speaking to People in 2022, Payne, while still engaged to Henry, revealed he saw Bear “two times” or “three times” a week. “And I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or dicking around somewhere else.

“So, I like to give him those moments and it’s important, he needs that in his life, he needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way.”
