Survivor 43: Episode 8 Recap

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD: DO NOT KEEP READING IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ SPOILERS.

8:00: Tonight’s episode kicks off with the castaways regrouping after Dwight’s elimination. Sami is trying to smooth things over with Jeanine after Dwight’s elimination. She feels betrayed. She says Dwight was voted out with her Immunity Idol. Jeanine feels like she lost an ally (Dwight) and she no longer trusts Sami.

The castaways are rejoicing that there is one less Idol in the game. But they shouldn’t be so confident because guess what, Jesse actually has Jeanine’s Idol. Oh, and he also has Cody’s Idol. Cody asked him to hold onto it and he hasn’t asked for it back. Is Jesse playing the best game?

Noelle, Owen, and Jeanine are talking about the Dwight vote. Noelle feels betrayed by her Vesi tribemates Cody and Jesse. They flipped on the vote without informing her.

The seven castaways that voted out Dwight (James, Cody, Jesse, Cassidy, Karla, Sami, and Ryan) are thinking about forming a final seven. They want to work together since they seem to be on the same page about who the big targets are. They are talking about who they want to go after next. Owen seems to be the name on everyone’s lips. But will his allies on the other side save him? Will he win Individual Immunity? We will know by the end of the hour.

8:10: The castaways are so hungry it’s making them delusional. Karla has been dreaming about food. Gabler and Ryan go fishing. Gabler says Ryan is by far the best fisherman on the island. In a confessional, Ryan says his resourcefulness is part of his strategy. He is making himself indispensable, so the castaways want to keep him around.

8:15: In a confessional, Sami reveals that while he is happy to be a part of the seven, he is worried about where he falls within the pack. He thinks he may be on the bottom of the seven. He expresses his concerns to Owen and Jeanine. They throw around the idea of forming a competing alliance. This could either be great for Sami’s game or terrible for his game.

8:20: Time for an Immunity Challenge! Jeff proposes a cost/reward dilemma. He offers the players a huge serving of rice. But here’s the catch. Five players have to sit out of the Immunity Challenge in order to receive the rice. They try to negotiate with Jeff. They try to get the number down to four players. Jeff refuses.

Eventually, five players agree to sit out. The five players are Jesse, Karla, James, Sami, and Cassidy.

8:25: Time for the challenge! Here’s how it works. The players have to balance a ball on top of a poll. But here’s the catch. Every five minutes, they have to add another section to the poll, so the poll keeps getting longer.

Let’s see who is the first to fall.

Noelle and Jeanine are out.

The competition is heating up. Gabler is out. We’re down to three.

Owen, Ryan, and Cody remain. Owen needs Immunity the most. His name has been thrown out a lot this episode.

Ryan’s ball drops. It’s down to Cody and Owen.

Cody’s ball falls and Owen wins!

8:35: The castaways are congratulating Owen back at camp. In a confessional, Owen says he is relieved to have Immunity because he feels as though he is at the bottom of the pack.

The seven is talking about who to vote out since Owen has Immunity. They talk about voting Jeanine.

8:40: The seven agrees to vote out Jeanine. Well, except for Sami. He wants to shake up the game. He wants to vote out Ryan. He approaches Karla with the idea to blindside Ryan. She likes the idea but she is worried how the rest of the seven will react. She tells James and Sami’s plan. He isn’t against the idea. Sami approaches Jesse to see where his head is at. Jesse is okay with voting Ryan out. Cassidy agrees to vote out Ryan. Hmmm. Ryan’s fishing prowess was not as beneficial as he thought it would be.

8:45: Cassidy wants Ryan out of the game. She wants revenge. Remember, Ryan tried to vote her out before the Merge.

Tribal Council Recap: Who Went Home?

8:50: Time for Tribal Council! Jeff is catching up with the castaways. The players are divided. Jeff talks to the players about how quickly the vote can change on “Survivor.” The castaways agree that the vote consensus changes quite a bit. Many players feel unsafe going into Tribal Council.

8:55: Let’s see how the votes fall.

Jeanine: 6 votes

Ryan: 2 votes

Jeanine is the eighth person voted out of “Survivor 43.”

“Survivor” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on CBS and Paramount Plus.
