Tekken 7: Noctis of Final Fantasy 15 Fame Will Be a Fighter

Noctis Lucis Caelum of Final Fantasy 15 fame will be a playable fighter in Tekken 7.

Just like in Final Fantasy 15, Noctis will wield his signature Engine Blade as well as his phasing and Warp Strike abilities. This will allow him to cover long distances while attacking. It looks like he’ll also use magic for attacking as well. He’ll be entering the ring as a DLC character in spring 2018. He comes with his own stage which is based off of the gas stations from Final Fantasy 15. The reveal trailer also featured some amusing banter between Noctis and his friends.

Many are taking to Twitter to express their excitement for Noctis being featured in the game.

Oh, and according to one Twitter user, Noctis’s announcement trailer happened on the two year anniversary of the announcement that Final Fantasy 7’s Cloud was going to be a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

Noctis is one of the two exclusive guest characters Publisher Bandai Namco promised would be added to the game as DLC. The other was Geese Howard, one of SNK’s iconic fighters who was featured in Fatal Fury and King of Fighters. He will be released sometime in December 2017.

Street Fighter’s Akuma was also one of the playable characters in the game, but he came standard with every copy.

The Tekken World Finals happened today for the first time outside of Japan in San Francisco, CA. The top 16 Tekken players battled for a $50,000 prize and the competition streamed on the official Tekken Twitch channel.

In other news, Injustice 2’s Fighter Pack 3 was revealed during the ELEAGUE Injustive 2 World Championship Playoffs. The pack contains Atom, The Enchantresss of Suicide Squad “fame,” and a rather surprising appearance by all four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s unknown for now if you can select between the turtles before a match, have them swap out with each other mid match, or even have them team up together at the same time. All three fighters are included in either the Ultimate Edition of the game or Fighter Pack 3. Atom will be available for early access starting December 12. The Enchantress will follow in January with the Ninja Turtles appearing in February, according to Comicbook.com.

The ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championshop Playoffs had the final four competitors, Christian “ForeverKing” Quiles, Ryan “Dragon” Walker, Denom “f0xyGrampa” Jones and Sayed “Tekken Master” Hashem Ahmed, compete for the title of World Champion and the largest share of the event’s $250,000 prize pool as they play Injustice 2.
