Malik Beasley Latest News
Leads bench in win Monday
Beasley accumulated 22 points (7-13 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 18 minutes during Monday's 124-119 win over New York. Beasley torched the nets from beyond the arc during his limited run Monday. The sharpshooter also finished as the club's second-leading scorer behind Cade Cunningham (36 points) in the victory. Beasley is on track to average 16.5 points while shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc, and he has racked up 17 outings with 20-plus points over 40 regular-season appearances thus far.
Back to bench
Beasley will come off the bench for Saturday's game against the Raptors, Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News reports. The Pistons will be getting Tim Hardaway back from a one-game absence Saturday. Beasley fared well in his fill-in start versus the Warriors on Thursday, recording 21 points (8-21 FG, 4-14 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 36 minutes.
Misses game-tying shot
Beasley ended Thursday's 107-104 loss to Golden State with 21 points (8-21 FG, 4-14 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 36 minutes. Beasley had the chance to tie the game in the final seconds with a three-pointer, but his shot bounced off the rim. It was another solid showing for Beasley, who scored at least 20 points in his last two starts and three of his previous four games. The veteran sharpshooter averaged 16.1 points per game while shooting 34 percent from three-point range over his last 10 games.
Pops for team-high 23 in win
Beasley supplied 23 points (9-17 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, five assists and two steals in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 113-98 victory over Brooklyn. Making his second straight start in place of Ausar Thompson (illness), Beasley led the Pistons in scoring while nabbing multiple steals for the third straight contest. The 28-year-old wing has topped 20 points six times in the last 11 games (three starts), averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 threes, 2.8 boards, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals over that stretch. His role in the Detroit offense hasn't varied much whether he's been on the first or second unit. Beasley's attempted at least nine three-pointers in 10 of those 11 games.
Starting Monday vs. Portland
Beasley is in the Pistons' starting lineup against the Trail Blazers on Monday, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. Beasley will make his ninth start of the regular season Monday due to the absence of Ausar Thompson (illness). Over his last 10 outings, Beasley has averaged 17.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assist and 1.0 steals over 27.6 minutes per contest.
Puts up 23 points in win
Beasley ended with 23 points (8-17 FG, 6-14 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and three steals over 33 minutes during Saturday's 119-105 win over the Timberwolves. Beasley had another impressive shooting performance, and he continues to make a huge impact for the Pistons as a reliable deep threat off the bench. Aside from this game being the third time he reached the 20-point mark in his last six appearances, it was also the 14th time he made five or more three-pointers this season.
Drains three treys Saturday
Beasley posted 14 points (5-11 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist in 19 minutes during Saturday's 134-121 loss to the Nuggets. Beasley has thrived both as a starter and bench option for the Pistons, and he's been flourishing in that latter role over the last few weeks. Even though he's started just once in 10 December games, Beasley has scored in double digits while sinking three or more three-pointers eight times in that stretch. Beasley is making 45.5 percent of his three-point shots since the beginning of December and a career-high 41.8 percent throughout the campaign.
Delivers 22 points from bench
Beasley provided 22 points (7-16 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 27 minutes during Thursday's 114-113 victory over the Kings. After a decent stint with the first unit, Beasley has slid into a sixth-man role with Detroit. He's logging 25-plus minutes with consistency, and helps keep the team afloat when Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey rotate out of the lineup. The veteran provides leadership to a young squad with a lot of potential, and Detroit's one-year deal with the journeyman is reaping dividends.
Shines off bench in win
Beasley contributed 21 points (8-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt), five rebounds and two steals over 26 minutes during Monday's 117-114 win over the Lakers. Beasley returned to a bench role now that Jaden Ivey is available, but the veteran sharpshooter has managed to make an impact for Detroit regardless of whether he's starting or playing off the bench. Beasley has scored at least 20 points in five of his last seven appearances, putting up 20.6 points per game while shooting an impressive 48.1 percent from deep in that span.
