Apparently the stress of the worst PR disaster in fast-food-chicken history is wearing on Chick-fil-A.
Or, more specifically, on its top spin doctor.
Don Perry, vice president of public relations, keeled over and died from a heart attack this morning.
Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s public statements against gay marriage have prompted a firestorm of passionate criticism, including some hardcore tweets from Roseanne Barr.
Tasked with smoothing over the nightmare, Perry has been under extreme pressure.
Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A released this statement:
Don was a member of our Chick-fil-A family for nearly 29 years. For many of you in the media, he was the spokesperson for Chick-fil-A. He was a well-respected and well-liked media executive in the Atlanta and University of Georgia communities, and we will all miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
