Teen in School Murder Plot Calls ‘Columbine’ Film Favorite

Reed Peery on Facebook.

One of two teens charged with plotting mass murder at a California high school may have been inspired by a movie based on the Columbine High massacre.

Reed Peery and Samuel Noble, both 15 years old, are charged with planning to kill fellow students and staff at Vista Murietta High School, reports the Press-Enterprise. The were arrested and are in custody.

School district spokeswoman Karen Parris tells the newspaper that this was no idle threat:

It was a very serious threat. It was not an imminent threat. There was a specific date but it was not in the near future.

Classes start Tuesday.

Peery, on his Facebook page, lists Zero Day, a movie based on the Columbine massacre, as a favorite film. Twelve people were killed in 1999 when two students infamously opened fire at Columbine High School in Colorado.

Peery and Noble were busted after FBI officers uncovered their alleged plot to unleash similar carnage at their high school, which teaches 3,350 students.

One of the 15-year-olds allegedly leaked plans of the plot to an acquaintance on the East Coast, who contacted the FBI.

Here’s a trailer from Zero Day:
