Hurricane Sandy’s winds have left a crane dangerously dangling from a Manhattan high rise with units priced up to $90 million each.
The One57 building is an ultra-exclusive residence nearing completion in Midtown near Central Park and Carnegie Hall. Its nine largest apartments have all been sold to billionaires, according to the New York Times, which called it the “global billionaires’ club.”
Upon completion, One57 will tower 1,004 feet tall at 157 West 57th Street — New York’s tallest residential building.
The crane collapse has forced the evacuation of nearby buildings including the Parker Meridien hotel, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the street will remain closed to avoid a tragedy.
Bloomberg says street where the downed crane is will be kept clear in case the boom falls.
