Drug Company Makes ‘Female Viagra’ in the Form of Nasal Spray

A Canadian drug company called Trimel Pharmaceuticals is about to make some men very happy. The company says they have come up with the first “female viagra,” a testosterone-based treatment called Tefina that is taken in the form of nasal spray that increases sexual desire and enhances blood flow to the genitals in women.

The libido-enhancing drug is taken two hours before sex and the effects can last up to six hours. Whoa.

Up to 30 percent of women suffer from anorgasmia, the inability to reach orgasm during sex, which is something the drug can help, reports Daily Mail.

“We have previously shown that for women with low sexual interest, testosterone therapy not only improves sexual desire and arousal, but also enhances a woman’s ability to reach orgasm,” lead researcher Susan Davis from Monash University in Australia, who backs the drug, told Daily Mail.

Researchers don’t expect any negative side effects like acne, body hair growth or deepening of the voice so women can safely take the testosterone-based drug without fear of becoming a man. Phew.
