Yesterday morning, 69-year-old Pamela Gwyn lost control of her 2000 Chevy Blazer and drove into a swimming pool. Thanks to the actions of a witness, 57-year-old Craig Lafleur, the woman was pulled from the vehicle before it sank and is walking away from the crash unscathed.
At 9:51 a.m., Gwyn apparently failed to make a right hand turn and lost control of her SUV on Willowbrook Drive from Highway 59 in Merced, California. She went through a metal fence, continued for about 50 feet and then went into the pool at the Granville Luxury Apartments.
Lafleur pulled the car to the edge of the pool by its roof rack, then broke its back window. Gwyn was still conscious and able to unbuckle her seat belt, and Lafleur pulled her out before the car sank. Police told the Merced Sun-Star that Gwyn had no recollection of the crash, and that results could have been really different had Lafleur not come to her aid.
