A suspected drug lab explosion tore through a hotel near Sea World San Diego today, and witnesses saw a man engulfed in flames running from the scene.
Three victims are being treated for burns after the blast at the Heritage Inn Hotel on Channel Way.
KTLA reports the blast occurred around 11:30 a.m. local time.
A fire department spokesman made the drug connection when contacted by UT San Diego:
A 21-year-old man, who was with a woman in the room where the explosion occurred, told authorities they were using methamphetamine, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Maurice Luque said.
Haz-mat crews and Narcotics Task Force agents responded to the scene.
