Three people are dead and three wounded after a “rolling gun battle” early this morning on the Las Vegas Strip. The carnage culminated in a horrific multi-car crash at the busy intersection of Flamingo and Las Vegas boulevards.
Here’s what we know so far.
1. A Taxi Burst into Flames
Two of the three fatal victims were killed inside a taxi that was engulfed by fire around 4:30 a.m. local time. These were innocent victims at the wrong place at the wrong time.
2. Two Vehicles Were Exchanging Gunfire
Cops say occupants of a Maserati and an black Range Rover Sport SUV were shooting back and forth. The Maserati then careened out of control and slammed into the taxi, which caught fire.
3. Three People Are Dead
Cops say the driver of the Maserati died as well as the driver of the taxi and a taxi passenger.
4. At Least Four More Were Injured
A passenger in the Maserati was reportedly among four people hospitalized with injuries after the shootout and crash. Three have been released.
5. The SUV & its Driver Are on the Loose
The SUV escaped the scene. Three other vehicles were damaged in the incident. The SUV is described as a black Range Rover Sport with large black rims, believed to be driven by a black male. That driver is considered armed and dangerous.
