Man Steals Delivery Driver’s Car, Keeps Making Deliveries

Kids, don’t do drugs. For that matter, don’t steal cars, either. Take a page out of this guy’s book: Keith Hinds of Hartford, Connecticut, stole a Chinese food delivery man’s car while he was on the job, according to the Hartford Courant. He might have gotten away with it, too, if he hadn’t continued to make the deliveries on the delivery guy’s route in the hopes of keeping the cash.

Hinds reportedly stole the vehicle as it was idling outside a middle school while the driver went in to deliver the food. The driver promptly called the authorities and his boss. When his boss called the customers scheduled for delivery to tell them that their orders were pilfered along with the car, one of them told him that he’d already received his food. Police were able to catch up with the thief after the driver’s boss told them where the next deliveries were — they found him as he was in the process of making a delivery.

When he was eventually apprehended by police, Hinds was charged with third-degree larceny, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to keep drugs in the original container. Police found a joint, a crack pipe and an as-of-yet-unidentified anti-psychotic drug. The car was returned to the driver. Hinds is being held on $5,000 bond, and he’s expected to appear in court today.
