DC Entertainment is prepping it’s next storyline in it’s ongoing Batman comic book series. And it’s titled Batman: Zero Year.
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, the creative geniuses behind today’s Batman comics, are prepared to helm this upcoming comic book event. This time, the upcoming comic book series will delve into the dark knight’s transformation from a wealthy philanthropist/celebrity into Gotham City’s avenger. Even though some of Bruce Wayne’s/Batman’s beginnings may include some changes, a couple things will stay the same — the murder of Wayne’s parents, for example.
Scott Snyder spoke to the Associated Press about this next event and how it came to be:
It’s not ‘let’s redo the origin.’ We tried to preserve as much of Batman’s history as we could and keep what we could of this history intact. It’s ‘The Zero Year,’ the one that no one has told the story of before. We see how Bruce became the Batman, built the cave, faced off with his first super villain. We’re not going to take apart ‘Year One.’
Snyder stated that, due to the success of the first year-and-a-half of DC’s New 52 initiative, a decision was made to introduce this story to the ongoing series. Snyder also stated that readers will get a thorough glimpse into how the crime fighter found his calling and what challenges he faced after he donned the Batman outfit.
This new origin tale will is set to span 11 issues, starting with June’s Batman #21.
