CNN‘s Piers Morgan spoke with former porn star Traci Lords about her troubled childhood in Steubenville, Ohio, the place where two high school footballers are accused of raping a drunk girl.
Traci told Piers Morgan that she was molested as a child and felt connected with the recent case in her town, which has gained national attention.
Traci Lords said she was born and raised in the small town where she and her mother were raped. In her memoir Traci Lords: Underneath It All, she wrote about how her father abused her when she was a child before she ran away with her mother and three sisters.
She said on CNN that she was raped by a 14-year-old boy when she was only 10. Traci said Steubenville was full of alcohol abuse, and there was a disregard for women. “I think there’s a sickness in that city,” Traci told Piers Morgan.
The B-list actress said that she wanted to speak out after receiving Twitter messages from fans who knew where she was from. She tweeted on Wednesday on how she felt saying, “1 of 2 The #Steubenville rape trail has really pissed me off. And I have vented here on social media…I’ve also screamed it all in a studio.”
Traci Lords said that seeing the cultivating images of the two boys carrying the girl around her arms and legs brought back painful memories of her disturbing past. “I was so horrified by these images and the way this young girl was treated,” she said.
Traci, who’s also a songwriter, wrote a song called “Stupidville” about the town that she grew up in and what the locals used to call it.
The 44-year-old starlet’s shocking revelation comes out as footballers Trent Mays, 17, and Ma’Lik Richmond, 16, are standing trial for the alleged raping of a drunk 16-year-old girl last summer.
