It’s not every day a little girl gets to kiss a real-life prince, but for one young Scottish girl it was apparently just a bit too much to handle.
While greeting well-wishers at the Emirates Arena, Prince William chatted with four-year-old Shona Ritchie.
“You look very pretty,” he told the young girl, asking her, “You want a kiss, do you?”
When the royal leaned in to kiss the little girl’s cheek, she unexpectedly pulled away.
“Aw. Next time Shona, next time,” said the Prince.
Shona’s mother, Karen Ritchie, said the little girl had waited all morning dressed in her princess outfit to ask Prince William for a kiss but as he leaned over she became shy.
“She’s been dressed up like that since 6 a.m. today and we’ve been here waiting since nine,” she said, “But when she finally plucked up the courage to ask him, she got really shy and pulled away.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in the Scottish city to visit a homeless shelter and help launch a sports program.
