Embattled Tory senator Patrick Brazeau caused a stir late Monday night after he tweeted that he’d be stepping down from his position in the Canadian senate.
I will step down from my position!

Official annoucement tomorrow at 10am.

Hours later, he tweeted “Happy April’s Fool’s Day!” apparently making light of his earlier tweet.
Happy April’s Fool’s Day!

Brazeau boasted this morning that he had “played the media.”
@andyradia no, I played the media.

Many were not impressed with Brazeau’s remark, given that he has been on forced leave since being charged with both assault and sexual assault back in February for an incident at his home. He is also under investigation for questionable spending.
So @thebrazman “played the #cdnmedia“. Now we know any assumption of the tiniest bit of sense and humanity remaining was faulty. #cdnpoli

If this is ‘April Fools’ you’re a bigger prick than imagined, if not, good. “@thebrazman: I will step down from my position!”
