Minnesota is poised to become the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriage after the state Senate voted 37-30 this afternoon to pass the measure.
Democrats hold a 39-28 majority in the Senate.
The bill just needs the governor’s signature to become law, and Governor Mark Dayton has pledged to lend his signature.
The other states that have passed legal same-sex marriage are:
Connecticut
Delaware
Iowa
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
New York
Rhode Island
Vermont
Washington
(plus Washington, D.C.)
