San Francisco Plane Crash Causes Major Travel Delays: SFO Closed

The San Francisco International Airport is mostly closed, according to the FAA. Most inbound and outbound planes are canceled but SFO is currently stating that they will open up two runways shortly. The decision to close the airport was made after a Boeing 777, Asiana flight 214 from Seoul, crashed as it was landing in San Francisco at 11:30 Pacific Time.

Planes flying to SFO are being diverted to other airports in California including Oakland, Los Angeles and Sacramento.

San Francisco International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. About 427,074 flights came in and out of SFO in 2012, according to the FAA.
