Frequent flyer miles may have just saved a Facebook executive. According to Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s Facebook page, she was supposed to be on Asiana flight 214, which crashed while landing in San Francisco on Saturday.

“Taking a minute to be thankful and explain what happened,” she said, “My family, colleagues … and I were originally going to take the Asiana flight that just crash-landed. We switched to United so we could use miles for my family’s tickets.”

The plane Sandberg took instead landed 20 minutes earlier than expected so she was able to avoid the crash entirely.

Similar to Sandberg’s emerging story, other famous personalities Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg missed or changed their plans to be on American Airlines Flight 11, which was hijacked and crashed on September 11, 2001.
