A man died after falling more than 60 feet from an upper-level platform at Atlanta’s Turner Field on Monday night, reports ESPN.
A police report said the man fell just before 9 p.m. during an Atlanta Braves game against the Philadelphia Phillies and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
The Braves released a statement immediately after the incident:
“There was an accident earlier tonight at Turner Field with a spectator falling from the upper level,” the statement said. “The spectator has been transported to the hospital. The Atlanta Police Department are investigating.”
Investigators have ruled out foul play, but are still investigating. It is unclear whether or not alcohol or if wet conditions played a factor. Heavy rains Monday night led to a nearly two hour delay of the game, which was scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m.
“At this time there’s no indication of foul play and the fall appears accidental,” Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee said. “It appears he fell from an upper-level platform to a secured lot below.”
