Did Cameron Bay, the porn star who shocked the industry by confirming that she is HIV-positive, pass on her sexually transmitted disease to none other than Anthony Weiner sext-mate, Sydney Leathers?
Gawker posted an article today connecting the two adult film stars through freelance porn actor Xander Corvus, who was the last on-camera partner of Bay. Corvus played the Anthony Weiner role in Leathers’ porn debut in Weiner and Me.
Bay told AVN.com, an adult video news website, that she was the cause for the industry-wide halt in production after she received a positive HIV test on Wednesday. Gawker reported she claims her last clean bill of health was released on July 27.
Leathers has said that tests taken by her and Corvus prior to their sex scene came back clean. She also said a test performed after the shoot came back negative as well.
It is possible, according to the Centers for Disease Control, that negative test results within the first three months of HIV exposure could be false.
“Since 2004 there have only been two cases of performers testing positive for HIV and neither of those situations involved on-set transmission,” said Diane Duke, executive director of the industry trade group the Free Speech Coalition.
Duke also said that Leathers does not believe she contracted the disease on set.
After the moratorium was place on porn production, the porn industry announced that it had identified the actress and that we was new to the industry, according to the Daily Mail. Porn fans will be glad to know that production will begin soon.
“The moratorium will be lifted once the risk of transmission has been eliminated,” said Duke, executive director of the industry trade group the Free Speech Coalition.
