Police in Calgary, Canada are taking very seriously the threats of a woman to commit suicide. The woman, who goes by the name “Kara ‘Reaa McKay” on the site began making worrying Twitter posts just before midnight on August 17.

In April 2013, Nova Scotia teen Rehtaeh Parsons was taken off life support by her parents after a suicide attempt three days previously. Parsons alleged that she had been raped two years previously, when she was just 15. The fallout from her rape led to alienation from her peers and depression. Her case cause outrage among Canadian parents.
