A serious bus accident has occurred involved a van and NJ transit bus #40 at the intersection of Doremus Avenue and Port Street in Newark, NJ, according to ABC7. The collision happened around 5:30 p.m. Several passengers have been taken away on stretchers. No word on the extent of injuries.
According to NBC New York, initial reports indicate that the van entered the wrong lane on Port Street and subsequently crashed into the bus straight-on. The bus was carrying 17 people. The van was carrying two others, the driver of which was seriously injured. CBS has reported that 14 injuries, ranging from facial lacerations to chest injuries, were recorded from the bus, non life-threatening.
