Senator Marco Rubio is the youngest candidate in the 2016 presidential race at 43. He was born May 28, 1971 in Miami, Florida.

Rubio would be among the youngest presidents on inauguration day if elected behind only Theodore Roosevelt, who was 42, and John F. Kennedy, who was 43. Rubio would be 45, making him younger than 46-year-olds Bill Clinton and Ulysses S. Grant.

Rubio lived most of his life in West Miami, according to the biography on his Senate website. His parents immigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1956. He attended Tarkio College for one year on a football scholarship before attending Santa Fe Community College and eventually graduating from the University of Florida in 1993 with a degree in political science. He later earned a law degree from the University of Miami in 1996.

Rubio began his political career as a city commissioner in Miami before being elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2000. He is in his first term as a U.S. Senator after being elected in 2010.
