Here’s what happened on Y&R’s Thursday, January 7, 2016 episode:
Victor Wants Billy’s Place in Kevin’s Business Venture
After much resistance, Kevin finally decided to come forward to Paul (Doug Davidson) about his involvement with Billy. Paul — initially suspicious — continued pressing him for questions. Kevin — in the presence of Jack (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) — admitted that Billy’s (Burgess Jenkins) motivation for betting was to invest in his business idea. While Jack wasn’t thrilled, he later decided that he wanted to give Kevin the money on Billy’s behalf.
On Thursday, Kevin wishes Mariah a happy birthday and hands her a gift box. Mariah — surprised by the gesture — opens it to reveal a toy Ferrari. Kevin tells her she’ll be getting the real version in the future.
“I want you to have this. Happy birthday Mariah.”
At the hospital, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is insulted to hear that Victor wants to take Billy’s place as Kevin’s investor investment while he’s hospitalized. Victor tells her that Billy and the rest of the Abbott’s prior troubles can’t just be ignored. Phyllis and Jack hear him. Phyllis sarcastically says, “”that’s lovely.” Victor admits to Phyllis that he doesn’t mind seeing Jack “squirm a little.” Phyllis tells him to “go to hell” as Victor says that “feeling is mutual.”
Later, Victor approaches Kevin about his business venture. Initially, Kevin is hesitant to provide him with any info. However, Victor tells Kevin that he’ll always have regrets if it’s a good idea that never had the backing to take off. Kevin opens up a bit more, informing Victor that his project will be revolutionary and prevent another Paragon. This piques Victor’s interest. Victor says he’d be more interested if he saw the business plans. He tells Kevin to give him a call when he knows what he wants to do. Shortly after, Mariah insists that Kevin take on Victor and not wait around for Billy’s recovery; it’s just business. She says that even if Victor is a tyrant, he’s a tyrant that can make Kevin’s business a reality.
At the hospital, Phyllis tells Jack he should get moving on getting Kevin the money for Billy. Later, Jack tells Kevin he wants to give him the money on Billy’s behalf. Kevin is hesitant, saying Billy should be awake for it. Jack questions Kevin on whether there’s another offer on the table.
Sage Tells Dr. Anderson to Stay Out of Her Life
Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) have been experiencing a resurgence in romance, as the two are live together again. For the past few weeks, Dr. Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush) — who’s been keen on getting revenge on a Newman Ranch diving incident — has unsuccessfully tried forming a wedge between the couple; even telling Nick to keep away from Sage or else she could become her next patient.
On Thursday, Sharon (Sharon Case) sets up for Mariah’s birthday party as Dr. Anderson arrives, saying she has some good news.
Meanwhile, Nick and Sage have dinner. Nick informs Sage that Sharon wants him to bring Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) there. Sage says that she’ll pick her up from school and take her to the party.
Later, Sage arrives with Faith and asks Dr. Anderson why she’s so interested in Sharon’s personal life. Dr. Anderson tells Sage that her and Sharon are opposites, so that’s why she thinks their relationship bothers Sage. Dr. Anderson asks why Sage she’s forcing things by interacting with baby Sully; another woman’s child. Dr. Anderson tells Sage that she’d hate to see her collapse. Sage says that it’s none of her business.
“You’re not my therapist, and you’re not my friend, so stay out of it!”
Dr. Anderson says that she didn’t mean to overstep any boundaries; she only wants what’s best for her. Sage addresses Dr. Anderson to Sharon. Sage wonders how she can be so involved with them and Nick. Sharon says that the family is all connected.
At the hospital, Dr. Anderson informs Nick that there was a situation with Sage holding Sully. She also tells him that he’s doing Sage a disservice by allowing her back into his life. Nick tells Dr. Anderson he’ll keep that in mind. Sage shows up at the end of their conversation. She tells Nick that Dr. Anderson’s suggestions are all an act. She asks him to not listen to what she says. They embrace.
Max Accuses Abby of Killing His Mother
At the police station, Max (Jared Breeze) — with Stitch (Sean Carrington) — accuses Abby (Melissa Ordway) of killing his mother. Paul (Doug Davidson) informs them both that Jenna (Stephanie Lemelin) was killed in a car accident while on the phone; it was her call with Abby.
Abby talks to Paul about how scared she is about the situation revolving around Jenna’s death. Paul consoles her, saying she has to work through it all with Stitch. Dylan (Steve Burton) tells Abby to just give Max some time. Paul tells her to remember to be “slow and patient” with him. Later, Dylan and Paul hypothesize about who hit Billy. Dylan suggests that perhaps Billy wasn’t ran over by someone tied to the gambling situation. Paul seems to agree.
At dinner, Stitch explains to Max that Abby wants the best for him. He says that he misses his mother. Abby and Stitch leave the table to chat. Abby says she didn’t anticipate all this after marriage. Shortly after, they notice Max has disappeared from the table.
Later, Victoria is told that there’s been a complication with Billy’s surgery. The doctor says that although he’s alive, he has little brain activity.
