Obama at Scalia’s Repose: Photos of the President’s Visit

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama look at a portrait of U.S. Supreme Court Judge Anthony Scalia after paying their respects to the late Justice. Scalia is the only justice to have died in office since Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who passed away in 2005. Bush attended Rehnquist's funeral and said the eulogy. However, they did share political ideologies, which made his saying the eulogy a logical choice. This may be the first time a President hasn't attended a sitting Justice's funeral in 65 years, but records of past funerals aren't completely clear the farther you go back in history, Townhall reported. When Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson died in 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower was photographed at his funeral. To read more about past Justices' funerals and Presidential attendance, please see this story. (Getty)
