Joran van der Sloot is finally caught on video confessing to the murder of Natalee Holloway. Have a look at the video above, obtained by Radar Online and The National Enquirer.
It’s been over a decade since Holloway went missing and now people have the truth. The video above was shot during a conversation with van der Sloot and his wife, Leidy. The voice speaking to van der Sloot is an undercover reporter. In the video, van der Sloot talks about how he lied to police and the reporter asks him if he’s talking about the Holloway case. In response, van der Sloot admits:
Yes yes yes. Yes, this is also where I am guilty and I accept everything that I have done.
The video was taken on February 1, 2016 inside the Challapalca Prison, which is also known as the “Alcatraz of the Andes”. Joran van der Sloot is currently incarcerated at the Challapalca Prison after pleading guilty to the 2010 murder of Peruvian woman Stephany Flores.
On May 30, 2005, Natalie Holloway met van der Sloot at a bar called Carlos’n Charlie’s in Aruba and left for the night with van der Sloot. She was never seen again. Along with two friends, brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, van der Sloot was arrested multiple times for the case, but was eventually let go for insufficient evidence. Alabama native Holloway was there on a high school graduation trip and her disappearance is one of the most famous unsolved mysteries in our nation’s history.
On February 1, 2008, the case was reopened when video footage caught Joran van der Sloot, under the influence of marijuana, saying that Natalee Holloway died on the morning of May 30, 2005. In the video, he also said that a friend had disposed of Holloway’s body.
When the footage came out, van der Sloot said his statements in the video weren’t true and that he actually sold Holloway into slavery. He later retracted that statement as well. Then, in 2015, a man named Jurrien de Jong told Inside Edition that he had witnessed Holloway’s murder. The man explained:
I saw Natalee Holloway on the last night she was alive. I was the eyewitness. I saw that Joran was chasing Natalee into a small building under construction. In about five minutes, he came out with Natalee in his arms and slammed the body of Natalee on the floor… and then he made an opening in a crawl space … I knew she was dead.
Jurrien de Jong said he hadn’t come forward at the time because he was involved in illegal crimes when it happened.
Holloway was not declared legally dead until January 12, 2012.
