Demonstrators holds signs during the People's Climate March on April 29, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. The Climate Change March organizers, the People's Climate Movement, were very clear on their website that they would not tolerate violence, physical or verbal, in any way. In their code of conduct, they also emphasized that they would not destroy or damage property, would not carry any type of weapon or consume alcohol, would promote a tone of respect, and would hold everyone accountable to adhering to the conduct.
