Lawrence Patrick Sullivan: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

(Miami-Dade Corrections)

Lawrence Patrick Sullivan, a 29-year-old man who has green hair and tattoos to make him look like the Batman villain The Joker, was arrested by Miami-Dade County Police on May 23 for allegedly pointing a loaded gun at drivers.

When he was arrested, police said they found a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun. His arrest report also says that he told police he didn’t have a concealed weapons permit “cuz it’s expensive.”

His tattoos make him look like a mix of Heath Ledger’s Joker and Jared Leto’s version of the character from Suicide Squad. Sullivan has tattoos on his cheeks to make it look like he has a big smile carved into his face. He also has “Ha, Ha, Ha” under his eyes and a bat symbol with a sword through it on his forehead.

Here’s what you need to know about Sullivan.

In the report, police said Sullivan did tell them that he had a weapon. When asked for his concealed weapons permit, he said he didn’t have one. “I don’t have a permit cuz it’s expensive,” he said, according to police.

According to USA Carry, the initial cost for a concealed weapons permit in Florida is $102 and it takes 90 days to process the application. The cost includes a $42 fingerprint processing fee and the $60 initial license fee. It costs $50 for Florida residents to renew the license.

During a hearing on Wednesday morning, Sullivan told the judge that he now lives with his mother, The Miami Herald reports. His arrest affidavit lists his current profession as “tattoo model.”

Sullivan is being held on $5,000 bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to the Miami-Dade Corrections. He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm.

4. A Joker Lookalike Was Arrested for Wearing a Mask in Public in March 2017 in Virginia

Sullivan is hardly the first person arrested while looking like the Joker. In fact, he’s not even the first person this year.

Back in March, The Associated Press reported that 31-year-old Jeremy Putnam was arrested in Winchester, Virginia. He was wearing a cape and had white and red face paint that made him look like the Joker. He also had long green hair, so he looked like Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight. Putnam was charged with wearing a mask in public, which is a felony.

Westchester Police reported that a caller told them he was seen carrying a sword, although this is not illegal in Virginia. The charges he faced centered on his “mask,” which was actually makeup.

Putnam was held on $2,000 bond and could be sentenced for up to five years in jail.

Putnam was arraigned in April. He told Fox5 that he isn’t a lunatic like the Joker. HE was barred from wearing face paint.

“I thought why just be a fan when I can be the actual person. But not like a lunatic like he is. But more of a funny type,” Putnam told Fox5. “I’m a very big fan of Batman, and the Joker is like one of the big deals of all. Everyone likes the Joker.”

For those unaware of the history behind the character, The Joker is considered Batman’s arch-nemesis and has existed since Batman #1 was published in June 1940. He’s a serial killer who has tormented Batman for decades. The character was famously played by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton’s Batman and by the late Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Jared Leto took over the role for last year’s Suicide Squad. It looks like Sullivan modeled his look after Leto’s version of the character.

5. Another Man Was Arrested at a Florida Movie Theater in 2012 Wearing Joker Makeup

As CNN reported, another man who looked like the Joker was arrested at a Melbourne, Florida movie theater in September 2012. The 21-year-old man, Christopher Sides, was arrested after police responded to a call that he acting suspiciously. Police found that he had a warrant for his arrest linked to a previous misdemeanor charge.

That arrest happened just months after the 2012 mass shooting at an Aurora, Colorado movie theater, where 12 people wee killed during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The shooter, James Holmes, was convicted and sentenced to 12 consecutive life sentences and 3,318 years without parole. He told police that he thought he was like the Joker and was found with his hair dyed orange.
