It’s official: First Lady Melania Trump and the presidential son, Barron Trump, have moved into the White House.
The Trumps were photographed with the president arriving at Andrews Airforce base in Maryland on June 11. Both Melania and Barron Trump were dressed down more than usual, perhaps due to the hot summer-time weather; Barron wore a T-shirt and toted a bookbag, and the First Lady wore caramel-colored slacks with a white sleeveless shirt. Barron’s T-shirt read, “The Expert.”
Later in the day, Melania posted a Twitter photo from inside the White House on her official FLOTUS Twitter page. “Looking forward to the memories we’ll make in our new home! #Movingday,” the First Lady wrote.
The move comes after months of speculation about the state of the marriage between Melania and President Donald Trump, although she has always insisted she only stayed in New York so that Barron could end the school year. The presidential son now has a new school in D.C. Barron Trump will attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac come the fall. The coeducational college preparatory school was founded in 1978 and enrolls 580 students.
The Melania and Barron moving-in day was originally reported as June 14, and some political observers say the move helps give President Trump an aura of more stability.
President Trump was returning to Washington D.C. after spending the weekend at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club. While there, the president found time to crash a wedding and even dance with the bride.
According to Town Hall, “Melania and Barron have arrived at the White House just in time to celebrate the President’s birthday as a family – he turns 71 on June 14.”
Melania’s father, Viktor Knavs, and her mother, Amalija Knavs, were also seen arriving at Andrews Air Force Base. Some people have commented that Viktor Knavs bears a resemblance to Donald Trump.
Barron Trump’s height seems to grow with every new set of photos.
It’s been a long time since a boy lived in the White House.
You have to go back to John F. Kennedy Jr. and 1963 to find another presidential son who lived in the White House. Many recent presidents have had only daughters. The National Post says Barron Trump is also the second youngest child to live in the White House in 50 years, after Sasha Obama. Before JFK Jr., you have to go back to 1901 and the boys of Theodore Roosevelt to find sons young enough to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Obamas, Clintons, Johnsons, and Nixons only had daughters. George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, did too. Other presidents – such as Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush – had sons, but they were adults by the time their fathers entered the White House. Donald Trump will become the oldest president inaugurated, but he’s one of the few recent presidents to have a son under 18 at the time he took office.
