Driss Oukabir has been identified as a suspect in the terrorist van ramming in the Las Ramblas neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain. The van used in the attack was rented by Oukabir in the town of Santa Perpetua de la Mogada, according to Civil Guard sources. Oukabir is originally from the town of Agbala, Morocco.
However, some investigators believe that it really Driss’ brother is behind the attack. According to El Pais, Driss’ brother, Moussa Oukabir, 18, stole the documentation of his brother. Moussa lives in Barcelona, while Driss is a French national. La Vanguardia reports that Driss went the police to state that his ID had been stolen after today’s events.
13 people are confirmed dead with at least 80 injured.
ISIS has claimed the attack.
The Spanish language El Pais newspaper named the suspect, who was identified by the Civil Guard in that country. They write, “The van used in the attack was rented by Driss Oukabir, in the town of Santa Perpetua de la Mogada, according to the identification made by the Civil Guard.”
