The Powerball keeps getting bigger and bigger. The drawing for Saturday, August 19, 2017, was for $535 million. Did anyone win?
The answer is NO. No one won tonight’s Powerball. So it’s just going to be even bigger on Wednesday.
So now we’re looking at a jackpot of about $650 million for Wednesday night, with a cash value of $411.7 million.
The winning numbers for tonight were: 17-19-39-43-68 and a Powerball of 13.
You can watch them draw the numbers in the video below:
The odds of winning are one in 292.2 million, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. We haven’t had a winner in this one since June 14.
There were some smaller winners this week. People in South Carolina and Tennessee won the Match 5 Power Play for $2 million. And people from California, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania won the Match 5 for $1 million.
How much bigger do you think the Powerball will get this time before there’s a winner? The largest jackpot ever won was $1.6 billion in January 2016. This next jackpot will be the second largest jackpot in Powerball’s history.
After that, Powerball’s next largest winners were $590.5 million in May 2013, $587.5 million in November 2012, and $564.1 million for February 11, 2015.
Powerball is played in 44 states in the U.S., plus D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. You can buy your ticket for Wednesday up until about an hour before the jackpot in most states, although some locations may quit selling tickets earlier than that.
Some people are holding out hope that this jackpot will grow to $1 billion like it did in January. If that happens, you’ll want to pick up your tickets earlier than the day before. Lines got really long in some places when the Powerball was that large. So if you’re planning to buy a ticket for this one, you might not want to wait until the last minute.
