National Oyster Day falls on Saturday August 5, 2017 and that means that restaurants and bars in cities all over the United States are offering specials and discounts of the bivalves.
Establishments in many American cities are offering $1 oyster deals.
“Nearly two billion pounds of these bivalve mollusks are eaten every year. From 1990 to 1995, Americans ate about fifty million pounds of oysters,” NationalOysterDay.com reports. The best way to celebrate National Oyster Day is the obvious one: “Make or order a dish that uses oyster as one of its main ingredients. Use #NationalOysterDay to post on social media,” the site advises.
Here are some major cities with National Oyster Day discounts:
Miami
In Miami, restaurants are offering an “array” of specials, according to The Miami New Times. You can see a list of them here.
They range from $1 oysters at Burlock Coast Seafare & Spirits to half price oysters at The Dutch.
Denver
Westword lists six spots that are “going out of their way” for National Oyster Day. You can see the list of specials here.
The specials include 99 cent oysters at Blue Island Oyster Bar and Seafood and free oysters at Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar.
Chicago

Baltimore
