An undefeated squad against the Steeler Nation proved to be the perfect combination for CBS’s ratings in Week 6 of the NFL season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers knocked the Kansas City Chiefs from the ranks of the unbeaten, and with the game in the late window, a sizeable part of the country was watching.
The game did a 14.0 rating and a 27 share, marking the strongest rating for CBS this season. The telecast was also an improvement over last year’s matchup in a similar week, as the matchup between Dallas and Cincinnati a year ago produced a rating of 13.1.
The fact that the Steelers and Chiefs produced the highest-rated game of the year to date was no surprise given what the teams did last year in the playoffs. The Steelers’ playoff win over the Chiefs set a record for the highest-rated divisional playoff game last season, as a combination of two rabid fan bases and a late kickoff combined to produce a classic that captivated the country.
