Ray-Ray McCloud Latest News
Ties season-high mark
McCloud caught all six of his targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 38-6 loss to the Broncos. McCloud tied his season high with six receptions, a mark he's reached three times. He continues to play nearly every offensive snap but remains firmly behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney on the WR depth chart, with TE Kyle Pitts and RB Bijan Robinson also siphoning targets from Kirk Cousins. McCloud already has career-high marks in receptions (41) and receiving yards (381) this season, and his role as the top slot wideout isn't in danger.
Records three more catches
McCloud caught three of four targets for 30 yards and rushed once for six yards during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Saints. McCloud has caught exactly three passes in four of the last five weeks, but other than a touchdown in Week 9, he doesn't have much fantasy production to show for it, totaling 106 yards on 14 receptions (18 targets) during that stretch. Drake London and Darnell Mooney are the undisputed top wideouts in Atlanta, while RB Bijan Robinson and TE Kyle Pitts will see their fair share of targets, as well. Even with Kirk Cousins outperforming expectations following an Achilles injury, it'll be difficult for McCloud to generate enough attention to be a viable fantasy option on a weekly basis.
Finds end zone Sunday
McCloud caught all three of his targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Cowboys. He added seven yards on his only carry. It was the journeyman wideout's first TD of the season and just the second of his career. McCloud has already set a new personal best with 305 receiving yards on the year, and he's caught multiple passes in every game so far in 2024. His role in the Atlanta passing game could grow further in Week 10 if Drake London (hip) ends up being sidelined, but McCloud will still be an intriguing dart throw regardless against a reeling Saints defense.
Four touches against Tampa Bay
McCloud caught all three of his targets for nine yards and added one carry for 17 yards in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Buccaneers. McCloud's three targets in the contest were tied for a season low and the veteran was unable to get much going as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney. As long as both London and Mooney are healthy, McCloud will find it difficult to produce consistently in a passing attack with several mouths to feed. Through eight games, the 28-year-old wideout has recorded 29 receptions for 277 yards and has yet to find the end zone. Up next for McCloud is a Week 9 matchup against the Cowboys.
Minimal production in loss
McCloud caught two of four targets for nine yards during Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks. McCloud played more than 80 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps for a sixth straight game but finished with a season-low nine yards. His fantasy upside remains limited, but McCloud is only seven yards away from tying his season-long, career-high mark of 277 receiving yards, which he set in 2021 with Pittsburgh.
Secondary role in double-digit win
McCloud caught three of four targets for 30 yards and rushed once for three yards during Sunday's 38-20 win over the Panthers. After a season-best performance in Week 5, McCloud's role slightly shrunk as Atlanta leaned on the run game versus Carolina. He played 82 percent of the team's offensive snaps, marking the first time since Week 1 that McCloud didn't play at least 95 percent. The veteran slot receiver remains a key part of the Falcons' new-look offense, but his production has been lackluster, recording 24 catches for 259 yards and zero TDs through six games.
Season-high performance
McCloud caught six of nine targets for 66 yards during Thursday's 36-30 overtime win over Tampa Bay. McCloud played nearly every single offensive snap for a fourth straight game. He recorded season-high marks in receptions, targets and yards, but the veteran has yet to catch a touchdown this season. McCloud set career highs in Pittsburgh during the 2021 season, posting 39 catches for 277 yards. He already has 21 receptions for 229 yards this season. With Rondale Moore (knee) out for the season, McCloud is locked in as Atlanta's No. 3 wideout behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney.
Cleared for TNF
McCloud (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against Tampa Bay. McCloud played 98 percent of Atlanta's snaps on offense in a 26-24 win over the Saints on Sunday, moving his snap share for the season up to 86 percent. He's also seen a surprising amount of the Falcons' targets, with 19 percent share putting him slightly behind WR Darnell Mooney (21 percent) and well ahead of RB Bijan Robinson (14 percent) and TE Kyle Pitts (13 percent). Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson's extreme reliance on three-wide sets has been kind to McCloud, who should be ready for another large snap count after the Falcons upgraded him to 'full participation' on Wednesday's practice report.
Limited in practice Tuesday
McCloud (ankle) is listed as 'limited' on Tuesday's injury report, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. McCloud has logged back-to-back limited practice sessions, so his activity level Wednesday will be crucial in forecasting the No. 3 wide receiver's availability for Thursday's divisional matchup against the Buccaneers. If McCloud is able to practice in at least a limited fashion once more, it will bode well for his chances of being available Week 5. KhaDarel Hodge will figure to see increased work behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney if McCloud is forced to miss any time.
